Bill Warren is a nationally recognized building science expert, who has developed and managed energy, indoor air quality and building performance projects for Advanced Energy, U.S. Department of Energy, The Duke Endowment, State Energy Office of North Carolina, Center for Neighborhood Technology, Building Codes Assistance Project, NC Cooperative Extension Service, Southface, The Energy Center at Appalachian State University, the Manufactured Housing Research Alliance and mSolve.
Bill consults with a wide range of commercial building developers, property managers, site built and industrialized home builders, law firms, insurance companies and property owners. He works on a wide variety of building projects across the country including new and existing high rise condos, factory-built homes, single family residences, hospitals, government buildings, plants, laboratories, office buildings, retirement homes, dormitories and hotels.
From 2000 to 2003, Bill was the project manager for crawl space research and commercialization program, which was funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and Advanced Energy ( www.crawlspaces.org). He is co-author of the design guide: Closed Crawlspace: An Introduction to Design, Construction and Performance. His other technical writing includes development of code adoption language, numerous technical reports, various technical guidelines, manuals and bulletins as well as magazine and journal articles.
As a trainer, Bill has developed and conducted professional architect/engineer CEU rated training workshops for the U.S. Department of Energy, state energy offices, nonprofit organizations, churches groups and home inspection agencies.
Bill’s 30 years of building performance work includes previous employment at the U.S. Department of Energy, Center for Neighborhood Technology, Sud Associates Consulting Engineers, and SunShares.

Roger Robertson is the Chief of Inspections for the Chesterfield County Virginia Department of Building Inspection. Roger has been in the code enforcement field for over 20 years, performing duties as an inspector, engineering assistant, and an inspections chief. Prior to his code enforcement career, Roger was a developer and class A Virginia registered contractor, specializing in residential and light commercial construction.
Roger has served as the chairman or member of numerous committees of the Virginia Building and Code Officials Association, The Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development, and the International Code Council. Roger has developed and presented training seminars for code officials and professionals across Virginia, on topics including residential and commercial building inspection, and means of egress. Roger holds over 20 professional certifications including the International Code Council Master Code Professional designation, and a certified instructor for the International Code Council, and is certified as Lead Instructor for the Jack Proctor Virginia Building Code Academy. |
